Keith Olbermann: Wannabe Elitist
An advantage of having my own blog is that I don’t have to be current and can share anything entertaining that I find regardless of when it happened.
I read this article by Coulter last year making fun of Keith Olbermann lying about having an Ivy League degree.
…small-time opportunities to show off by correcting someone else’s teeny-tiny mistakes are the lifeblood of Olbermann’s MSNBC show, “Countdown.” Olbermann is no more capable of not correcting Rep. Charlie Rangel when he said “inferred,” but meant “implied,” than an obsessive compulsive could pass a sink without washing his hands.
There is utterly no purpose to these lame “gotchas,” except that Olbermann is so desperately insecure that he is willing to waste valuable airtime in order to convince other status-conscious idiots that he is, like, scary-smart.
Olbermann relentlessly attacked low-level Bush administration employee Monica Goodling for not going to a name-dropping college, saying — approximately 1 million times — that she got her law degree “by sending 100 box tops to Religious Lunatic University.”
I would venture to say that the students at Goodling’s law school at Regent University are far more impressive than those at the Cornell agriculture school — the land-grant, non-Ivy League school Keith attended.
I wouldn’t mention it, except that Olbermann savages anyone who didn’t go to an impressive college. As it happens, he didn’t go to an impressive college, either.
If you’ve ever watched any three nights of his show, you know that Olbermann went to Cornell. But he always forgets to mention that he went to the school that offers classes in milking and bovine management.
Indeed, Keith is constantly lying about his nonexistent “Ivy League” education, boasting to Playboy magazine, for example: “My Ivy League education taught me how to cut corners, skim books and take an idea and write 15 pages on it, and also how to work all day at the Cornell radio station and never actually go to class.”
Except Keith didn’t go to the Ivy League Cornell; he went to the Old MacDonald Cornell.
The real Cornell, the School of Arts and Sciences (average SAT: 1,325; acceptance rate: 1 in 6 applicants), is the only Ivy League school at Cornell and the only one that grants a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Keith went to an affiliated state college at Cornell, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (average SAT: about that of pulling guards at the University of South Carolina; acceptance rate: 1 of every 1 applicants).
Olbermann’s incessant lying about having an “Ivy League education” when he went to the non-Ivy League ag school at Cornell would be like a graduate of the Yale locksmithing school boasting about being a “Yale man.”
Among the graduates of the Ivy League Cornell are Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Thomas Pynchon, Paul Wolfowitz, E.B. White, Sanford I. Weill, Floyd Abrams, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Ginsburg, Janet Reno, Henry Heimlich and Harold Bloom.
Graduates of the ag school include David LeNeveu of the Anaheim Ducks, Mitch Carefoot of the Phoenix RoadRunners, Darren Eliot, former professional hockey player, and Joe Nieuwendyk, multiple Stanley Cup winner.
I wasn’t aware the Olbermann had actually responded to this on his show.
Now what Olbermann wants the viewer to think is that Coulter was just picking on him because she’s a big meenie. But as she pointed out in the article, the only reason she was bringing this up was because the smug and stupid Olbermann has a history of belittling the achievements of others. And then at the end he crawls into his little shell and plays the victim being looked down upon by an elitist snob.
I couldn’t find an average SAT score for the Cornell School of Agriculture but 78% of students score at least a 600 on the verbal section of the test and 86% get at least 600 on the math. That’s pretty good, but it’s not Ivy League. Olbermann mentions only that the acceptance rates of the two Cornells are similar, which of course means pretty much nothing since people apply to where they have a chance of getting into. We’re not supposed to notice he ignores the point about SATs.
Yes, I’m sure Olbermann has never seen anybody from the the real Cornell look down on the ag. school. That’s because people are generally polite and save their scorn for pricks like him, as Coulter did.
Here’s Coulter on FoxNews being extremely likable and continuing to embarrass poor Keith.
Olbermann is a member of the lumpenswippletariat without the cognitive ability to be an actual elitist and he knows it.

Although I’d consider Ann Coulter to be about 80% evil if I believed in such a concept, she is forever awesome and I’m a big fan. She’s witty, quick on her feet, ever-ready with a brilliant comback and I can’t say I ever saw her back down or apologize for anything she’s ever said or done. I mean in addition to all of this being in ardent support of policies I often abhor, it’s also horrifically unsexy (at least the strident part), but judging her as a human specimen I’m a big fan. I can’t think of any other standard-issue extreme-righter who I like so much. After hearing a lot about Savage/Weiner I thought I’d love him but aside for the occasional awesome outburst or impressive bit of non-prole knowledge he’s as much a zero as Hannity. Coulter though really is great. Fuck, I even wrote her a letter telling herpretty much all of the above (out of politeness though I left out the evil bit and left it with finding many of her policy and personal preferences abhorent).
As for Keithy, he really does play the game that Ann says he plays with making molehills into mounds and he also seems to view himself as practically a god among men. I doubt he really takes himself as seriously as he pretends to on TV though. The first I heard of him was when he took on Bill-O and I got the impression that it was a naked (and successful) ratings grab and that even he knew it.
As for his choosing to respond to Ann, I don’t know how honest or dishonest he was about his school being considered a member of the Ivy League so I can’t really judge his reponse. Supposedly he aired Stewarts mockery of him but I didn’t see it (and don’t intend to) so I can’t be sure that that’s as impressive as it sounds. (It probably isn’t.)

Most if not all “conservative” White women have White children—it’s pretty hard to take them seriously as a “conservative” if they don’t.

That isn’t just an ad hominem attack, it’s actually factually true.
See, the reason most people in American don’t capitalize the word “white” when speaking of people who are white in America is simply because white in the US has always been but a color. When people speak of races or ethnicities they’ll capitalize the word Caucasian but being as Whites were always not just the majority but the RULING majority who essentially saw all others as cute little ethnicities worthy of having their own capitalized titles, people whose skin was the color white (colloquially white at least) never defined themselves as an ethnicity at all.
Look here:
This is most certainly NOT the case in lands where there was but a small white community or an otherwise decidedly separate one, THERE whites weren’t just people who’s skin was a certain color but were Whites (or some equivalent term). South Africa comes to mind quickly enough but this is and was essentially true everywhere. When there’s only a small community of white people in an area they tend to stick together and share a culture and regard themselves as well as have others regard them as White – capitalized as all “peoples” are.
Now, with the massive rape of our American peoplehood here by the unwanted importation of foreigners in numbers so legion that there are large American cities where white people are the minority, there’s a good chance that white people WILL begin in very large numbers to start viewing themselves as a people – as (capitalized) Whites. But to hate on people who have yet to view themselves that way is pretty ridiculous. Throughout all of recorded history we know of no instance where any whites regarded themselves as “Whites”. There were Bavarians, Germans and in a few rare instances “Europeans”, but even these Europeans would never have included white-skinned Russians within their taxonomy.
If you want to go and create some sort of sense of white brotherhood such that enough people will view their identities as that of “Whites” and be interested in creating the fabled White Ethnostate, good and well. I think that the odds of it working out very well are close to zero (because human beings simply aren’t geared towards viewing a billion people as their co-ethnics and thus worthy of a higher level of concern and love – don’t forget, we all come from tribes that numbered about 150 at the most,) but so long as you don’t want to kill me and mine or otherwise turn my life and the lives of my children into a living (or dead) hell, then go for it. But remember, this paradigm never existed in the world before (and is almost certainly doomed to fail) so it’s ridiculous of you to go and regard good Nordic stock who don’t define themselves as “Whites” as being traitors to their people. They, like everyone before them in lands where white people were the ruling majority, never saw themselves as being whites in the first place.
This is different of course for Americans who import tens of millions of foreigners who will depress the wages and take the jobs of tens of millions of their fellow Americans. They, of course, are traitors to their homeland. Whether they personally accept that identity as “Americans” or not (and many, like Bryan Caplan publicly do not), it is – unlike “White”, an identity that’s recognized by most of the world and, more importantly, by most of their neighbors.
Now here’s where you whitists get scary.
Not only have you gone and invented an identity out of whole cloth and demand that the world accept it retroactively but YOU YOURSELVES are so damn bad at it.
White Nationalists are known for less humanitarian work than Hamas. I’ve had the pleasant fortune to have read a great deal of White Nationalist writings by perhaps a thousand different people and though of course plenty of it is neither positive nor negative, I’d venture to say that about 60% of White Nationalist writings are ACTUALLY hateful. I don’t mean to use that term as an epithet, I mean it literally. The conversation NEVER covers how to help poor white people get a roof over their heads or how to help white communities become more interpersonally involved with each other or what sort of organizations or institutions should be created so as to increase the sum total of happiness, meaning, purpose and free-time for people in your White Ethnostate. No, when it’s not pareve, it’s hateful. Sickeningly hateful. Who needs to be murdered and how, who’s a traitor and who’s an enemy agent, etc.
I’m not usually a fan of terms of anathema that are tended to be ad hominem so as to disqualify someone’s argument without dealing with it (such as by throwing around words like Racist, Nazi, Communist or Cocky-Doody-Face) but “hateful actually IS a descriptive (rather than cheap pejorative) appellation that fits very well on the White Nationalist Community.
Did that make you laugh? “White Nationalist Community” ? It should have, because you guys are no community at all, just a bunch of solitary misanthropes looking to pin the blame for your sorry existences on someone (which is fair enough) and somehow chancing upon it being the fault of White Traitors, The Jews and ??? Your brothers in lunacy often end up blaming Satan, the Commies, the Reptilians or the Illuminati, so at least you’re flirting with logic – after all, Jews are as exponentially more successful than whites as whites are than blacks – as the STDV in each direction should have had you hypothesize in the first place – so whatever economic force you think is at fault for staving off Utopia, it’s not hard to find a few loud Jews among the leadership of that group, be they Democrats, Republicans or whatever else.
So there it is.
Please understand that I not only agree and support the idea of creating closer communities of like-minded, or like-gened, people but that I think that A) this White Nationalist business never existed before on a world-scale and is hardly likely to work out well in the future either, in fact I think that serious consideration of it is indicative of pungent delusional streak in otherwise intelligent and sometimes analytical people and B) you’d be wise to work on LOVING people rather than hating them. If you were a white person living in Cochin in the early 1900s you’d regard yourself as such and naturally feel an affinity for other Whites. Where you ae the ruling MAJORITY however even you guys can’t muster enough love to care about some other random white person, so all you’re White preferences mean to you are a dislike of others.
Whatever. Like I said, good luck. Church groups are awesome and I have warmer feelings for Christian church groups (particularly Mormon and Baptist ones) than I have for almost any other bunch of people, even though I’m obviously not included within their close circle of community. If you guys can pull that kind of closeness and nobility off based on a semi-shared ethnic heritage that goes back 40,000 years (literally), then good luck, but all that I see from whites now are people who claim to regard every white person (barring Jews, but whatever) as their brother but who never actually LOVE these brothers in any concrete way, but rather choose to regard fellow whites as brothers almost solely so as to accentuate that everyone else is NOT their brother.

P.S. It should be noted that love of fellow Whites almost certainly can’t successfully go hand in hand with CONTEMPT for everyone else. It didn’t work in Germany and it isn’t likely to work anywhere else in the post-tribal world either. Look at Orthodox Jews for example. There’s no question that they have a special place in their hearts for their fellow Jews (though of course there are a multitude of gradations there) but anyone who personally knows many Orthodox Jews (as I do) knows that while they don’t often consciously concern themselves with worrying about non-Jews (as ion the closing joke in “The Goy’s Teeth”), IN PRACTICE they do so much more for generic non-Jews than almost every other group of people (barring Mormons and Baptists probably) does. Their special love for Jews is over and above their base level of not really thinking about others (which is the same base level of non-caring that most people have) but it can’t help but spill over into giving money to beggars in the street, praying for anyone whose suffering is brought to their attention and donating to non-Jewish humanitarian causes that are brought to their attention too. My GOD, if you guys were like that do you think anyone worth listening to would mind that you care for your fellow WHITES even more?
Again, best of luck and I hope one day to be able to say that I’m pleasantly surprised. These (more or less) godless rebels created a wondrously happy society for themselves while being a blessing to the rest of the world. I’ll be sorry to be on the outside of that (and again, think that you SHOULDN’T regard me and other people of similar mind and good will as being on the outside and you’d also be smarter to focus more on smaller communities than on a worldwide White Ethnostate) but it’d be a fine thing. Loving a quarter of the world and creating a utopia with them is better than not loving any part of the world at all.

Keith Olberman strikes me as someone who only became political when he became middle aged and only because he got a job trying to appeal to a left wing demographic. My guess is he was a typical white surburbanite privlidged kid who is now worse than a reformed whore in church. His puerile petulant schtick is better suited to his former job as a sports announcer where his audience was primarialy apolitical adolesences. Mixed in with his new selfrightous progressive crusade he is insufferable.
Olberman is a Democratic Hack. As such, he has to stay within very narrow confines of what is politically acceptable to the multiculturial, multisexual, and multiracial coalition that makes up the left. This is why the ratings for his show are mediocre at best. In the end, the one safe thing he can do is bash conservatives. Having white skin himself, gives him the perfect camouflage. I don’t think he hates them anymore than I do. He just cannot say anything else without offending his new left wing funders.

She wants to keep capitalist economic policies in place so that she doesn’t have her cash flow disturbed, but other than that she’s just another mudshark like Nicole Brown Simpson.

You make it seem as if every WN wants to physically exterminate Jews and other groups, and this is untrue and slanderous.
And your suggestion that all WNs seek to establish some kind of worldwide, intercontinental white ethnostate empire is preposterous. Most serious-minded, practical, realistic WNs don’t hold such fantasies and are more limited in their aims.
I personally favor a sovereign, independent Jew-free White ethnostate, but I don’t seek to create some world empire. Nor do I have a problem if there are White states that allow Jews, or any other group for that matter, as long as there are sovereign, independent Jew-free White ethnostates in the world.

Also relevant, I generally blog after having spent about 36 hours straight in servitude and worship of mammon and thus tend to be less eloquent (or at the very least more long-winded) than Hebrews generally are.
